Homecoming Is Friday Night!

It’s that time of year again…HOMECOMING! This Friday night, September 27th, is our very own Pendleton Heights High School Homecoming! This year’s theme is “The Greatest Homecoming on Earth” and the parade and events are sure to be filled with circus-style parade floats, costumes and more.

What other town do you know that closes a state highway for a Homecoming parade? Ours sure does!

The Homecoming parade will begin at 6 p.m. and make its way through the downtown streets and end at PHHS. Come downtown or make your way along US 38 to snag your spot along the parade route to catch some candy, cheer on your local youth football and cheer teams and support our Arabians.

Pre-Qualification. Know Your Borrowing Power.

This fixed rate guarantees that your monthly mortgage payments will never increase with a USDA home loan. The only fee associated the USDA rural housing program is a small, one-time funding fee.

So, all this being said, pre-qualification before you shop allows you to budget early on, set your expectations on what you can afford…and what you might need to get out of your current home if you’re selling too. Once you create your budget and know about how much of a monthly house payment you can comfortably afford, your new home search will be more efficient. Knowing which homes are in your price range and the loan type you will need will save you time and allow your home buying expectations to be met.

A New Cupcake in Town!


Pendleton Real Estate Pro gives a warm welcome to Blondie’s Cupcakery! This little cupcake shop now calls State Street home!


Find the yellow painted building (beside The Wine Stable), walk through the aquamarine door and you’ll find a cute cupcake shop! The store’s shabby chic design features exposed brick walls, crystal light fixtures, glass covered cake plates filled with cupcakes stacked in icing as well as small tables (perfect for a little meeting or an after school snack).

Angie Looper, the owner, comes into her store every morning around 5 a.m. to freshly bake the cupcakes for the day. She has two signature cupcakes stocked daily and rotates other cupcake varieties throughout the week. I won’t give the surprises of her signature cupcakes, but I will say one has crumbles of bacon on top and the other has bourbon as a core ingredient.

Blondie’s Cupcakery is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can buy the cupcakes a la carte or by the half-dozen or dozen (or more!).

Outfitters Block Party Is This Saturday!

Downtown will be hopping on Saturday night! Come out for a night of fun at the Outfitters Block Party! The event kicks off at 6 pm at the corner of State Street and Pendleton Avenue and will wrap up around 10 with fireworks finale!


The cost for admission is $5. Children age three and under are free. Enjoy food and drinks from Sahm’s, Papa John’s, The Wine Stable and Good’s Ice Cream. In addition to the incredible food, drinks and desserts, entertainment will be in abundance! Rising Gravity Experience, Jeremy Johnson and the Bleeding Keys and Williams & Co. will all be performing! The night will close with a fireworks display.

As you most likely already know, Outfitters partners with local churches, social service organizations, businesses and our own South Madison School Corporation to provide quality clothing to our town’s children in need. Since Outfitters opened its doors in 2006, it has clothed over 1875 children. This is an incredible organization and will be a fun community event.

The days of phone books, mailbox letters and resource books (do you remember what an encyclopedia looks like?) are long gone. (Admit it, you’ve said “just Google it” more times than you can count).
